This week in the Top of Town….

November 28, 2012

Come out and enjoy the gorgeous Top of Town! There is always so much happening and friendly faces saying hi!

Size Matters III is opening tonight at The Swich Contemporary Art Space. I love visiting this little gallery, you step off the street into this modern space and could be anywhere in the world, New York, Paris or Berlin. LeAnne Vincent is the curator and owner of the gallery and welcomes everyone with a warm smile. Opening nights always see this cool space in the heart of the high street buzzing with artists, lovers of art & socialites. It’s the perfect way to spend a Thursday evening and why not grab a bite to eat at one of the local eateries afterward! Do let LeAnne know if you can come along though as she likes to put on a sumptuous spread for her guests.

The Frock Swap is on Friday evening 5-8pm at Cactus Espresso Bar (tickets $8 from Cultiver).

The Sunset Markets are also on Friday evening with Christmas trading to boot! So there will be heaps to look at and if you wander up past Deanns Coffee House around 6pm you might be catch the dulcet, sultry tones of Hayley Jane.

Style Guide: LeAnne snapped me as I was heading off one evening after an opening night at the Swich. I love layering up in winter and Ipswich evenings can be crisp (especially on a bicycle!) I found the full length vintage skirt at a yard sale, it’s Mr Simon of Melbourne. It’s a beautiful, dark velvet skirt with tiny gold flowers and a pleated trim and my guess would be c.1970’s. I wore it with a simple high neck, knit vest and threw on a mix of metallic bracelets which resonate with the gold in the skirt. For warmth I layered a vintage Irish fur originally from Dublin over the top, it even has the name of the original owner sewn inside….I love imagining the stories!
