Some cool things happening locally

February 13, 2013

The local cafes in Ipswich are a great place to find out about local events. I adore classical music and was delighted to see a little poster up at Urban Pantry this week promoting a special event in Ipswich. The enchanting Chamber Philharmonia Cologne will be gracing us with an evening of “classical music the world over” this February with pieces known and loved.

Vivaldi The Four Seasons 4 Concertos for Violin, Strings and basso continuo
‘J.S. Bach’ Suite No 2 in B Minor for Flute and Orchestra
‘Tchaikovsky’ Andante Cantabile for Violoncello and Orchestra (1884)
‘Mozart’ Divertimento in B Flat Major KV 137 Salzburg Symphony – ‘Paganini’ La Campanella for Violin and Orchestra.

Tuesday February 26, 8pm @ St Paul’s Anglican Church.

Tickets  $30

The Antipodean Steampunk exhibition now on at the Ipswich Art Gallery.

I fell in love with Russian classics when we spent two months living in Kazakhstan and Ukraine some years ago so I am really looking forward to seeing Anna Karenina next week.
